PADS Layout Updates (same as Beta 1) 
- IPC356 and Flat DXF output are now available.
- CAMCAD output has been added to Layout and is available as a separate program from the Mentor Start menu.
- visECAD is now included as output from Layout and as a separate program on the Start menu for Mentor for collaboration markups.
- RoHS support of standard pads with rounded and chamfered corners is now available.
- The ASCII output format has been updated to support new functionality and library changes.
- Export of Mentor standard CCZ format added for support of tools.
- Import capability added to load collaboration markups (will be enabled in a future Beta release).
- Single sided boards are now supported by checking routines.
- Switch to Router functionality has been added to transfer designs quickly to Router.
- The layer visibility Z modeless command has been added to Layout.
- The ZS (save) and ZR (restore) modeless commands for layer visibility have been added.
- Differential pairs tuning tab added to Options for PADS Router control

 

PADS Logic Updates (same as Beta 1) 
- Update from Library functionality is now provided.  Users can compare their schematic contents against their library contents and either generate updates or simply generate reports indicating the differences.
- Logic can now import OrCAD schematics, Protel 99 binary and ASCII designs, Protel DXP/Altium Designer schematic files using binary or ASCII, P-CAD 2002 and newer binary and ASCII files and CADSTAR binary files and ASCII files (V5-V8).

 

PADS Router Updates (same as Beta 1)
- Performance increases to differential pair smoothing have been made.
- Differential pairs can have arcs added to the miter pass.
- More parameters have been added to length tuning options.
- Arcs are used instead of miters in accordions.
- Switch to Layout functionality added to transfer designs quickly to Layout.
- Code changes have been made to increase Router reliability and performance.
- Additional automation objects and properties have been added.
- Differential Pair Smoother Symmetrical Pad Entry Improvement are added.
- Existing keepout functionality has been enhanced to work with accordions.
- CR modeless command to highlight component rule traces
- SC modeless command to smooth traces on complete.
- Intensity level added to the Miters pass.

 

- Schematic, PCB and library translators are now included in the 9.0 release. Some translator inputs are available from the Import menu of PADS Logic.
- Translators have been modified to support rounded and chamfered corners of databases transferred to PADS from third party tools whenever possible.
- Support file reads using either PADS2007.x and PADS9.0 formats.

 

Setup, Licensing, Installation, and Distribution (same as Beta 1)
- Windows XP and Windows Vista Japanese are supported.
- Database formats for Layout, Logic and Router designshave changed compared to previous releases of PADS. Loading designs will convert them to the 9.0 format.  ASCII out can be used to convert designs to formats used by previous PADS releases.
- The separate library converter program available from the Start menu must be used to modify exiting libraries to work in the 9.0 environment.
- You are required to have a licenses file with an exact access date of January 2009 or later to run this release.  To determine the Exact Access Date (EAD) of your license file go to

PADS9.0 is a completely separate installation from previous PADS releases, The Installation
path for PADS9.0 is now C:\MentorGraphics\9.0PADS.  While PADS9.0 does not overwrite
previous PADS installations, you should back up your existing PADS installation, designs and
libraries prior to installing PADS9.0.

 

HyperLynx
The HyperLynx build number in PADS9.0 is 388 which provides the same functionality available in PADS2007.3 Update 2 and PADS2007.4.
